If you’ve never been to a Lawns Social Club dance, you’ve missed a treat. Located in central Taunton, Somerset, it hosts a wonderful variety of social dancing styles to appeal to everybody from beginners to experts. From Rock ‘n’ Roll to ballroom, from Lindy Hop to Charleston and more, it’s got them all.
And on Fri 6th November 2026, the Lawns Social Club is holding a Barn Dance where everyone can join in whether expert or with no previous dancing expertise.
Barn dances are special because there is not only lively music, but also a dance caller who hosts the evening and organises dances designed for everyone to join in. So everyone is able to enjoy the do-si-dos, circling to the left, circling to the right, dancing between the lines to clapping and more that are the staple social moves of country dancing.
On Friday 6th November, the dance organiser will be Bridget and the ever popular Barnbuskers Ceilidh Barn Dance Band will be playing the live music to get your toes tapping and encourage you onto the dance floor.
Ideal for those living in Taunton or Wellington, The Lawns Social Club is also really convenient, being just off the M5 and easily accessible to towns such as Bridgwater and Tiverton, or villages of West Somerset down to Minehead and South Somerset down to Yeovil.
