What a lovely atmosphere there was at Martock Summer Fete yesterday (15th August 2026). With the continuing lovely weather providing a backdrop to the welly wanging, Morris dancing, classic cars and lots more, it was an idyllic village fete afternoon. The free barn dance with Barnbuskers took place in a wonderful marquee that provided excellent dancing on the grass expertly led by one of Barnbuskers favourite dance callers, Steve!
So thanks to the organisers of the Martock Summer Fete, in association with the Martock Parish Council, for a brilliantly organised event that clearly brought so much enjoyment to the many people of all ages that were there. Thanks also to all the people of all ages that joined in with the ceilidh dancing. Special mention and loads of kudos goes to those dancing with babes in arms demonstrating how ideal Country dancing is for family and friends entertainment.
The afternoon certainly put a smile on the faces of the Barnbuskers Ceilidh barn Dance Band…with the exception of Robin who had his mouth full of the Bass Clarinet that provided a steady bass line for the ceilidh dancing.
Whilst England and South Somerset is still in the throes of a heat wave, it seems strange to be thinking ahead to the Autumn and Winter or …even Christmas. But the dark evenings will return and we might even get some rain (lol!). A nice barn dance or ceilidh for your special birthday party, anniversary or even a fun Christmas party event is a great way for family and friends to get together to dance away the dark evening.
Barnbuskers Ceilidh Barn Dance Band provides traditional country dance folk music and a caller for lots of special occasions in Somerset and Devon throughout the year.
