And a big thank-you for sharing with Barnbuskers another wonderful year of dancing and good company. Playing our toe tapping traditional jigs, reels and hornpipes has been huge fun for us as well as for the guests attending the numerous birthday party, anniversary, wedding ceilidhs and barn dances where we have played throughout Somerset and Devon.

Our dance callers had a great time too (usually amid loads of laughter) explaining the easy and fun country dances with a walk through and ensuring everyone could join in. By continuing to call the dance moves out after the music started, the callers made it easy for the dancers to remember the next moves. Whether in local village halls, marquees, wedding venues, farmyard barns or in parks and recreation areas, we’ve had a wonderful time!

Perhaps most rewarding, was that so many new to country dancing have learned the enjoyment of do-si-dos, dipping and diving, circling to the left and right, galloping between the lines to clapping (and more) that are at the heart of country dancing. Hopefully the word will spread and we look forward to providing the dance music and caller for many more ceilidhs and barn dance celebrations throughout 2027 for their families and friends.

Certainly, we have noticed that performing at public venues such as Vivary park, Taunton (photo above) and other barn and ceilidh dances open to the public inspires lots of enquiries for our band and callers for private birthday, anniversary or wedding events that occupy us for most of our weekends.
Without doubt, country dancing is an ideal way of getting family and friends together and we have had all ages on the dance floor from toddlers to grandparents as in the photo above, all enjoying mixing together on the dance floor.
Lots of people attending weddings are also thinking of getting married and, seeing how well country dancing mixes the age groups, are also encouraged to have a wedding ceilidh or barn dance like the one we played at The Mole Resort, Chittlehamholt, Umberleigh, North Devon.

Barnbuskers band leader’s Judy’s Ceilidh Classes in Minehead, West Somerset welcomes many retired people from local villages such as Porlock, Washford, Williton, Watchet and Exmoor villages like Wheddon Cross and Exford. You are never too old to country dance and the Minehead Rugby Club Hall has proved ideal with it’s large and easily accessible car park.

So, if you are planning a special birthday party, anniversary or wedding celebration for your families and friends, Barnbuskers would love to hear from you. Barnbuskers Ceilidh Barn Dance Band provides traditional country dance folk music and a caller for lots of special occasions in Somerset and Devon throughout the year. Checkout the Barnbuskers News page. Our musician line up for a fun ceilidh or barn dance can vary from four musicians with caller for very large events, a Barnbuskers trio of three musicians with caller or a low cost duo with caller for smaller budget events ideal for fund raisers. We can even supply a caller with Barnbuskers recorded music, ideal for small gatherings of friends such as a hen or children’s party. It all depends on your needs. So finally, we wish all the country dancers that we’ve met throughout the year, either at our Barnbuskers Ceilidh or Barn dancing events or at Judy’s Ceilidh Classes, a Very Merry Christmas 2026! We’ve enjoyed sharing our love for country dancing with you all and look forward to seeing you again in the coming year.
