Regular followers of Judy’s Ceilidh Classes will know that there is nothing that Barnbuskers band leader and Ceilidh Class teacher Judy likes more than dancing and in particular, country dancing. But Judy’s cycling comes very close in her list of fun activities. So Barnbuskers wind instrumentalist Robin (photo below) was not at all surprised to hear about the epic trip she had planned for our Summer Holiday. It turned out to be 531 miles of cycle-paths and quiet country roads through the wonderful French countryside during a record breaking heat wave with 20 nights spent at municipal camping sites sleeping in a tent! It was fun but it’s also good to be back safe and sound – rather more bronzed and somewhat fitter lol!

Actually, there is also another week of holiday planned when we will be going to the Sidmouth Folk Festival 2026 that takes place at the beginning of August. It’s a fantastic week of traditional music and dance which is highly recommended. Our favourite spot is behind the Anchor Inn, Sidmouth where there is free country dancing twice daily. Last year Barnbuskers string musician and Judy’s daughter Laura joined us. You might spot them in the photo below!
And, there is an even sooner reason to get those feet moving (gently) because Barnbuskers Ceilidh Barn Dance Band is playing for a Free Ceilidh in Vivary Park, Taunton, Somerset Sunday 21st June, 2026. (Follow the link for more details). Everyone is invited and there is absolutely no charge!
So, whether it’s at Judy’s Ceilidh Classes, Vivary Park Free Ceilidh or Sidmouth Folk Festival, not to mention lots of private Birthday Party Ceilidhs and Weddings, there’s lots of dancing fun lined up for this Summer 2026 and we look forward to seeing you all. It’s good to be back!
