Wonderful news from Barnbuskers ceilidh barn dance band! We’ve just been booked to play again at the Band Stand, Vivary Park, Taunton, Somerset UK on Sunday 21st June 2026 from 3pm to 5pm where we will be playing toe-tapping English country dance music entertainment for an exciting Free Summer Ceilidh Barn Dance in the Park.
So Roll on those lazy hazy ceilidh days of Summer 2026. Everyone is welcome and Bridget (photo below), one of Barnbuskers favourite English country dance callers, will be there to explain the dances through before the music starts and during each dance for as long as needed. So the great news is absolutely no previous experience of Country Dancing is needed.
English country ceilidh barn dances are ideal for all the family and last year, when we hosted our open air ceilidh at Vivary Park Taunton, there were lots of people of all ages joining in the dancing.
Barnbuskers host lots of dances throughout Somerset and Devon and we see people having a great time dancing with babes in arms right the way up to grannies and grandpas. There will be do-si-dos, partner swinging, right hand stars and left hand stars and a bit of galloping (gently) between the lines. If you can walk, step, skip or jog, you’re in and enjoying all the excitement with everyone else. Bring along your partner or even your whole family or come along by yourself. Our dance caller will ensure you are included in the dances and have a great time.
Barnbuskers musicians will be led by Judy (photo below), Barnbuskers band leader and organiser, on her fiery fiddle.
Antony will be plucking a solid dancing rhythm on his bass guitar.
With Robin supporting the dance tunes on his various wind instruments.
And Sarah providing her wonderful strummed chords on guitar.
Of course, dancing might not be your thing (imagine that! Lol!) but come along anyway and enjoy the music and the ambiance. It’s all as free as the Vivary Park sunshine. Country dance music has been thrilling people of all ages for hundreds of years and is a marvellous complement to the perfect English Summer afternoon in the park.
