1. Is a barndance the same as a ceilidh? YES

2. How long does a dance last? A couple of hours if there is a very short break in the middle, but it is more usual for it to be 3 hours with refreshments eg a buffet in the middle.

3. What timings would you suggest for an evening ceilidh?
Typically:
arrival of guests 7 pm,
dancing 7.30-8.30 pm,
refreshments 8.30-9 pm,
dancing 9pm – 10 pm

It is a good idea to allow time between your start time on your invitation and the start time of the dancing, because if people don’t arrive exactly on time, there may not be enough people ready to start dancing on time.

4. How many people do you need? At least 40. Any fewer and it may be a struggle to get enough people up and dancing.

5. How much space is required? A village hall works well, or a marquee – or of course a barn!

6. How do I book? In order to reserve a date, you will need to pay a deposit. Otherwise we can’t promise the date will be available. If you have a date in mind, use the contact form to find out if it is available.

7. What if it is too expensive for my budget? Ask me about the price of a duo for your event. This would probably be a fiddle/accordion duo, or in some cases fiddle/guitar. With fewer players it can be much more affordable (see Barnbuskers Duo).
