Trull Church Community Hall revisited for a wonderful 18th Birthday Party with Barnbuskers Ceilidh Barn Dance Band Duo and caller

Trull Church Hall in Taunton, Somerset, UK

As we’ve said before, Barnbuskers Band loves a nice hall for holding a ceilidh or barn dance. The Trull Church Community Hall in Taunton, Somerset, UK, proved excellent in the past when Barnbuskers provided a duo and caller for a Church Group Christmas Ceilidh. Last night, 10th April 2026, it again proved a great venue for a very special 18th Birthday Party Ceilidh. Barn dances and ceilidhs are ideal for family and friends birthday parties because they mix the generations so well. The timeless music that has been thrilling people of all ages for hundreds of years and the easy dances can be enjoyed by people of all abilities. Last night, with the hall full of lots of energetic youngsters, the dancing was wonderfully spirited and fun.

Barnbuskers band leader and organiser, Judy, photo below playing the accordion, provided the chords with a bouncy bass line.

Fiddle player Ruth (photo below), did a great job providing a wonderfully toe-tapping melody line on her violin. Ruth is a new musician to Barnbuskers Band. With considerable experience of violin playing and ceilidh and barn dance music, Barnbuskers is looking forward to having Ruth joining us for lots of our future Ceilidhs and Barn Dances throughout Somerset and Devon.

Steve (photo below), with his entertaining traditional reminiscences, provided the dance calling last night so important for ceilidhs and barn dances. In country dancing, each dance is walked through and explained by the dance caller before the music starts. It’s a key feature of country dancing that makes it so accessible to all ages and abilities.
