As spring arrives across Somerset and Devon, bringing longer days, blossoming hedgerows, and fresh energy, Barnbuskers Ceilidh Barn Dance Band would like to wish all our country music friends, musicians and followers A Very Happy Easter!
The past year has been so wonderful, full of loads of ceilidh music and dancing in village halls to social clubs and even at open air events cross the South West. We’ve had a splendid time meeting old friends and also making many new ones. Now, as summer approaches again and the days get warmer, we are very much looking forward to seeing you all back on the dance floor for jigs, reels and of course loads of laughter.
Easter celebrations with Music, Dancing & Community
Easter is a time for bringing people together — and nothing captures that spirit quite like a lively ceilidh or barn dance. We will be out there playing our music for a ceilidh barn dance at a school reunion this coming Easter 2026 weekend and we hope you will be similarly enjoying yourselves.
Join Our Open-to-the-Public Barn Dances
So, if you’re looking for something different to do this spring and summer, why not come along to one of our open-to-the-public ceilidhs and barn dances?

Although a lot of ceilidhs and barn dances we do are for private functions such as special birthday parties, school reunions or weddings, we also provide a band and dance caller for open to the public events.
For example, currently, as Easter Bank Holiday 2026 approaches, we have Somerset events in Watchet, Martock and Taunton in coming months. These are open to the public and also free entry.
These are perfect for all fans of country dancing but especially for families, friends, and anyone wanting to try country dancing in Somerset for the first time.
As always, our highly experienced dance callers will explain each dance with a walk through before the music starts. The do-si-dos, right hand stars, forward and backs can be walked, skipped or pranced as you see fit. Even the galloping between the lines can be done sedately or energetically, depending on the person you are dancing with of course. Come with a partner or find someone at the ceilidh with the help of our friendly dance caller. Caller Steve (photo below), peppers his dance calling with lots of traditional dancing anecdotes too.

Whether you’re a complete beginner or a seasoned country dancer, everyone can join in — it’s all about fun, connection, and great live music.
👉 We have enquiries coming in all the time, including for open to the public events, so we have a special page on our website for these events. Our upcoming events open to the public are here: https://barnbuskers.co.uk/tickets/
