What a lovely evening we all had last night at the Wrington Memorial Hall, North Somerset, when Barnbuskers provided the musicians and caller for a 60th birthday party. The people were lovely, there was lots of nice food in the intermission and some excellent country dancing throughout the evening. We handed over to the disco at 10.45pm and, as we left, amazingly, all the family and friends were partying to the sounds of ABBAs Dancing Queen! Amazing stamina and a truly fun evening.
Wrington Memorial Hall was definitely a great place to hold a country dance ceilidh / barn dance. It had a real feeling of space with it’s high ceiling. With tables lining both sides of the hall and a bar at the end, there was still lots of room to dance in the middle. Do-si-dos, right hand and left hand stars, circling in fours, galloping between the lines and much more were definitely in abundance, expertly led by Bridget, one of Barnbuskers favourite callers. We loved the high up stage which was really solid and immovable even when Bridget demonstrated how to balance kick during a dance walk through.
So, if you are thinking of holding a birthday party or other event with a ceilidh or barn dance as part of your celebration and are local to Wrington, in North Somerset, maybe you are in Redhill, Langford, Congresbury, Butcombe, Yatton, Winscombe or Churchill, Wrington Memorial Hall is definitely worth checking out to see if it meets your needs.
