Country dancing and ceilidhs are very much about inclusion and fellowship. So it is not surprising that many Barnbuskers Ceilidh Barn Dance Band bookings are for church socials as was last night’s at Taunton Baptist Church. Ceilidhs are such a great way of people of all generations and abilities getting together and having fun, and that is something that churches like to do too. Of course churches frequently have limited funds which is why Barnbuskers Ceilidh Barn Dance Band provides the Duo option with caller as the perfect choice for many church ceilidhs. The bouncy tunes are the same, Barnbuskers powerful amplifiation still fill the hall with great sounds and the caller still organises great dances. Last night’s Barnbuskers Duo featured Barnbuskers band leader and organiser Judy on accordion and her brother Rob on fiddle with Simon Maplesden organising the dancing. It was a lovely evening including right hand stars, left hand turns, galloping between the lines, do-si-dos and more, all to the cheerful quips that are such a trademark of caller Simon. It was lots of fun for the dancers and the band alike.
