A Barnbuskers Ceilidh or Barn Dance Band for every Country Dancing budget

At Barnbuskers Ceilidh Barn Dance Band we are passionate about dancing and in particular we are passionate about ceilidh and barn dancing. It’s just a wonderful way of bringing families and friends, new and old, together. Plus we like playing the music with it’s jiggy and cheerful rhythms, so all good! Therefore, whatever your budget, we would like you to be able to enjoy the do-si-dos, right hand turns, left hand stars, galloping between the lines and other figures that make country dancing so social and enjoyable. From small gatherings to large celebrations, throughout Somerset and Devon, for important events such as a weddings or special birthday parties, we believe we have the music and dance caller for you.

Of course, we are a band! So we love playing live music. The energy generated from a live band responding to an experienced caller (like Bridget above) with a floor full of dancers is truly wonderful. The dancers are skipping around on the floor, laughing and counting the steps to the instructions from our dance caller. Often, the hullabaloo is so great that we can hardly hear ourselves playing. (Thank goodness for our electronic equipment that amplifies our instruments and wirelessly feeds back our band’s music through our in-ear monitors). Depending on the number of people attending, the size of the hall, distance to travel and the budget available, we can provide two musicians, three musicians or four musicians with dance caller. So, you can have a whole evening live band for every budget. Judy, our band leader (and hard working organiser), is really good at getting back to you to discuss arrangements and price options. Just message your requirements.

At the other end of the budget scale, for smaller groups and often regular meetups, we can provide a caller with recorded music. This is ideal for small and often day time gatherings. It could be a coffee morning at a community hall. It could be a few friends that want to get together, to have a bit of dance exercise and fun. You provide the hall and our caller (usually our band leader and organiser Judy), brings the recorded music, lots of enthusiasm and the experience to adapt the dances to the abilities of those present. The music is the same Barnbuskers toe tapping music that we play as a live band but, instead, recorded and played through our equipment. The duration of the event is as you wish but often just an hour. Again, Judy, our band leader (and, did I mention it, hard working organiser), is really good at getting back to you to discuss arrangements and price options.

Of course, if you are local to West Somerset or even are just visiting on holiday, you could join in one or both of Judy’s regular ceilidh dance classes. Barnbuskers hires the hall. It’s on an individual pay as you go basis, lasts for an hour and dancing, again, is to recorded Barnbuskers music. You have a great choice of venue at Minehead Rugby Club Hall (see photo above) or Watchet Bowling Club Hall. See Judy’s ceilidh classes for more information.

Whatever your budget, it’s Barnbuskers aim to bring you music and dancing that will thrill and entertain you as much as it does us. We hope to hear from you soon. Check us out on Barnbuskers social media to keep up with what we are getting up to or message us if you want further information about holding your own event.

You can contact Barnbuskers band leader and organiser Judy through Barnbuskers contact page or directly via the WhatsApp button below.

Whatever is your requirement for your country dancing event, barn dance, ceilidh or a dancing exercise meetup for a few friends, Barnbuskers Ceilidh Barn Dance Band looks forward to hearing from you!
