Yes it’s just a week now to the Barnbuskers Christmas Ceilidh Barn Dance (ticket sales link) at the Minehead Rugby Club in West Somerset. Ticket sales have continued to go well and it is definitely possible tickets might be sold out before the 4th December so we’re definitely going to have a Great Christmas Party! Therefore, if you’re planning to come, Barnbuskers would strongly urge you to buy your ticket now rather than hoping to buy tickets at the door and possibly being disappointed. Although the Rugby Club Hall is very large, like all venues, it has a maximum capacity, especially for the space needed for lots of people having fun dancing. We really don’t want to have to turn anyone away on the night! A big Barnbuskers thanks to Jo and Rick taking time off from their Blue Anchor Primrose Hill Holidays business to help check tickets at the door.
If you prefer to buy your tickets in person, they are also available at Judy’s Watchet and Minehead ceilidh classes (last chance 26th and 27th November). There will be no Judy’s ceilidh classes during the week of the big Barnbuskers Christmas Ceilidh Barn Dance at Minehead Rugby Club on the 4th December!
Thanks also to Barnbuskers fiddle and bass player Laura stepping in to help with the preparation of the free nibbles planned for the interval in the middle of the evening. Laura, who is band leader Judy’s daughter, clearly has talents for tasty cuisine as well as being an amazing fiddler. On the night of the Barnbuskers Christmas Ceilidh, Laura will be playing her big bass.

🕺 A Night of Music, Merriment & Festive Fun
Whether you’re a seasoned dancer or trying a ceilidh for the first time, this evening promises fun for all ages. The locally based Barnbuskers Ceilidh Band are well known throughout Somerset and Devon for their energetic tunes and friendly dance calling — you don’t need any experience to join in!
Each dance will begin with a walk through led by experienced festival and ceilidh dance caller Bridget Flett. When the music starts, Bridget will continue calling the dance steps as long as necessary so everyone has a great time!
There will be right hand stars, left hand stars, circling to the left, circling to the right, do-si-do-ing, galloping between the lines and lots of swinging your partners (gently or vigorously, whatever they prefer!).
Expect traditional folk music with a festive twist, plenty of laughter, and a warm, Christmas atmosphere. It’s the perfect way to kick off the holiday season in West Somerset.
