We want to celebrate our  birthday with country dancing at a ceilidh or barn dance but can’t decide when or where to have our Happy Birthday

At Barnbuskers we love celebrating people’s birthdays. Over the last year, we’ve celebrated lots, ranging from 21st birthday party ceilidhs right the way up to barn dances for 70 year olds. Happily, lots of people enjoy country dancing as a great way of celebrating special birthday events. It’s just such a great way of bringing family and friends together across the generations. And, of course, at Barnbuskers, we love providing the music and dance caller to makes these parties go with a swing and give everyone a great time.

But when to have our own Barnbuskers Birthday Party?

So, we got to thinking that it was about time we should think about celebrating Barnbuskers Ceilidh Barn Dance Band’s own birthday, whenever it is…and there-in lies the problem. What date or event should be chosen as our very own, first ever special birthday celebration. Especially as Barnbuskers has been in existence as a band for very many years. Over the last four years, under the management of Judy (photo below), our hard working multi-instrumentalist band leader? Nevertheless, we all thought setting a birthday date was definitely overdue!

Then it occurred to us that there is no point in having a celebration without having a party and (happily) Barnbuskers weekends are heavily booked already. Indeed, it was really difficult to identify a date for our Christmas Party. (By the way, if you haven’t spotted it yet, Barnbuskers Christmas Party Ceilidh Barn Dance is on 4th December at Minehead Rugby Club Hall, West Somerset and open to the public. We still have a few tickets left but they are going fast).

And where to have our Barnbusker Birthday Party?

Then there is the question of where we should geographically hold our celebration birthday party? Although based near Minehead, West Somerset, we travel to play country dancing music for ceilidhs and barn dances throughout Somerset and Devon. If we held our party in Devon, our many friends in Somerset would feel, perhaps it was a bit far to go, and vice versa.

Decisions, decisions!

So, what did we decide? Well, we decided to see how it goes (that’s prevarication, folks) and maybe have lots of our own Barnbuskers parties, perhaps one for each season and spread geographically. So maybe one for Spring, one for Summer, one for Autumn and of course we already have our Christmas party coming up as mentioned above. That gives us the best of all worlds.

As it happens, thankfully, we already have lots of client Happy Birthday party ceilidhs and barn dances scheduled for 2026 so we are determined to sort some dates out for our own celebrations soon. As they say, watch this space for the news.
