Lovely setting and beautiful weather for the bride and groom at Country Ways wedding venue Barnstaple Devon – a Barnbuskers favourite for ceilidh barn dances

Phew! It was wonderful July weather for a wedding, the bride was beautiful, the groom was handsome and the wedding ceilidh music from Barnbuskers rocked. Admittedly, with the temperature at well over 30 degrees, playing was, shall we say challenging. To be honest, I really don’t usually play with bare feet. But, as always, the Barnbuskers show goes on. Country Ways is one of our favourite ceilidh and barn dance venues because it is beautiful and the family that runs this wedding venue takes such care to make sure everything runs smoothly and we always feel well looked after.

As is common with weddings, by the time Barnbuskers Ceilidh Barn Dance band arrived (on time) to set up, the wedding timetable was running rather behind. So Barnbuskers had to wait before we could set up our equipment and play. Always keen to turn adversity into an opportunity, we took the opportunity to have a look around the Country Ways gardens and they were certainly spectacular. Definitely a great place to spend good times with lovely views and wonderful spots to sit and chat.

When the time came to set up, with all due credit to the band members, we broke all previous records and were ready in about a third of the time we normally allow. It’s so great to work in a band where everyone knows what needs to be done and just gets on with it cheerfully and cooperatively. The result was that we were only half an hour late from our scheduled time when we started to play. We launched into our introductory tune and this was immediately followed by the dancing led by the bride in her flowing white wedding dress partnered by the groom. Amazingly, the bride somehow succeeded in looking cool, despite the unusually hot weather.

Our ceilidh dancing slot was soon over and it was time to pack up and leave Country Ways as other wedding entertainments took over. Before going, we took the opportunity of checking out The Bicycle Repair Man duo. Nice singing. They say they don’t actually mend bicycles but only mend broken hearts…a nice motto!

Live music is always eventful and Barnbuskers Ceilidh Barn Dance Band works very hard to have plan Bs and backups for every eventuality. We love doing wedding ceilidhs, special birthday barn dances and other private country dance events. If you would like us to provide a band and caller for your ceilidh or barn dance, Judy, our band leader and organiser, would love to hear from you. Simply follow the link to Barnbuskers contact page.

If, as we do, you enjoy going to ceilidhs and barn dances, Barnbuskers also does open to the public country dances. We announce these on social media where we’d love you to follow us. We even have a special page entitled How to keep in touch with what’s on at Barnbuskers public ceilidhs and barn dances in Somerset and Devon to make it easy! We look forward to sharing our music and dances with you!
