Why a ceilidh or barn dance is perfect for your Somerset or Devon wedding dance

Bride and groom dancing at wedding

Many people choose to have a barn dance at their wedding reception because it is great fun and everyone can join in whatever their age.   And after a big meal and listening to the wedding speeches, you’ll have plenty of energy to burn off!  Even the people who say they don’t like dancing will enjoy a wedding ceilidh because it’s easy, and someone (the barn dance caller) tells you what to do.

There really is no better way to get the families mixing. Children are particularly good at it (unlike the adults, they listen to the instructions!) and even your granny will be able to join in.

Added to that,  the live music from the ceilidh band will really get your toes tapping and before long you will be galloping and do-si-do-ing like a pro.

If the bride and groom don’t want to do a first dance by themselves, a barn dance also gives them the option to start the dancing by being top of the set (ie, top of the lines, nearest the band).  This can be a lot more fun and saves on the stress of having to learn a dance like in strictly come dancing!
