When Barnbuskers bandleader Judy and clarinettist Robin are not playing ceilidh and barndance tunes, there’s nothing we like more than going for a nice little bicycle ride, especially in the lovely West Somerset UK countryside. Over the years, it’s become something of a tradition to jump on our bicycles on Christmas day and head for the hills taking advantage of less traffic than usual on the narrow but beautiful country roads and work off some of the Christmas feasting.
Luxborough is a beautiful village nestling in the Brendon Hills within the Exmoor National Park and was our target destination for Christmas 2024. It was a lovely ride.
Of course, as has been mentioned elsewhere, we also like a nice village hall and we couldn’t resist checking out Luxborough Village Hall while we were there.
If you are thinking of having a ceilidh or barndance to celebrate a special anniversary, birthday, wedding or other family gathering, it’s in a lovely location and might well be worth checking out to see if it meets your needs.

If you would like a band and caller to play and organise your ceilidh or barndance at Luxborough Village Hall (or anywhere else in Somerset or Devon) at any time in the year, we’d love to hear from you via the Barnbuskers contact page. In the mean time, we wish you a Happy (and possibly cycling) Christmas!
