Looking back, it was not long ago, a mere 18 months at this time of writing, when Barnbuskers Ceilidh Barn Dance Band played at the beautiful Devon village of Yarcombe for their celebration of the crowning of King Charles III and Queen Camilla on 6th May 2023. It’s good to have such lovely memories.
We had a great time playing at the Yarcombe Coronation Celebration and the Devon weather was really kind to us. The rain held off so that the dancing was able to take place outside creating the perfect village occasion.
As it happens, Yarcombe has lots of royal and historical connections. Apparently, King Harold briefly owned the manor in the village, prior to his death at the Battle of Hastings, and later on, ownership passed to Sir Francis Drake with one of his descendants still being squire of Yarcombe in current years.
Maybe, Barnbuskers Ceilidh Barn Dance Band will get the chance to return one day, although, of course, hopefully, not too soon for another coronation. In fact, many of Barnbuskers ceilidhs and barn dances are for events such as birthday parties, anniversaries and weddings as they are ideal for bringing communities and families of all ages together to celebrate a special occasion.
