Barnbuskers Band loves a nice hall for holding a ceilidh or barn dance. The Trull Church Community Hall in Somerset, UK, proved perfect last night when Barnbuskers provided a duo to play there for the Awaken Group Christmas Ceilidh 2025. With it’s emphasis on Scottish dancing, there were lots of sets dancing at the same time and the young ages of those there meant the dancing was vigorous and fun.
Skilled fiddler, Barnbuskers band leader Judy, who also plays the accordion, provided the chords with a bouncy bass line.

While her daughter, Laura, took the melody line on her violin.

The organisers provided the dance caller and the arrangement worked very well musically at minimal cost.
If you are thinking of holding a barn dance or ceilidh, for your birthday, anniversary or special event, the TCCC has four rooms available to hire. Naturally, it is best to check out the facilities yourself to see if they suit your needs but, based on Barnbuskers experience last night, the hall at which we played proved ideal for a ceilidh or barn dance.
Of course, if you are looking for a band to provide the music and caller, we at Barnbuskers Ceilidh Barn Dance Band would love to hear from you! We provide traditional country dance folk music and a caller for lots of special occasions in Somerset and Devon throughout the year. Our musicians line up can vary from a four musicians to a low cost duo, depending on your needs.
