Discover the fun of Country Dancing at Barnbuskers Christmas Party. It’s easy, friendly and designed to put a smile on your face Thursday 4th December from 7pm Minehead Rugby Club Hall. Just a few tickets left!

Christmas tree

Fun, laughter and just having a good time without being too serous is what country dancing is all about. Anybody can country dance and the music has been thrilling generations for hundreds of years. So, if you haven’t tried it before, why not give yourself an early Christmas present and the opportunity to discover something really wonderful. It’s friendly, fun and a feel good exercise that’s almost guaranteed to get you whooping along with everyone else.

It’s going to be a great party

There are over 60 tickets sold already and still a couple of days to go so we’re going to have a great time. If you haven’t got a partner to bring, no worries because it’s easy to find people to dance with on the floor. Country dancing evenings are organised by a dance caller who arranges dancers into groups. To participate in the dancing, just join a group and the caller will do the rest. The caller for the Barnbuskers Christmas Party is Bridget (photo below) who is immensely experienced and knows how to ensure everyone has a great time whether they are new to country dancing or have been doing it for years.

Barnbuskers Christmas Ceilidh Barn Dance Band

Your dance band for the evening is Barnbuskers. We are a local band based in Blue Anchor, West Somerset, but travelling throughout Somerset and Devon to provide traditional country dance music and callers for ceilidhs and barn dances. After a really successful year, our Christmas party is an opportunity to celebrate for us too and how better than with all our local West Somerset friends.

There will be dancers from Judy’s Watchet and Minehead Ceilidh Classes, Minehead Tennis Club, a friendly group that call themselves the Quay Street Women and lots of others. Plenty of opportunity to meet and dance with old friends and make new ones.

Judy will be leading the band on her fiddle, Robin will be blowing his clarinet and other wind instruments, Rocky will be whizzing his fingers over the keys of his piano accordion, Sarah will be adding the rhythm on her guitar and Laura (Judy’s daughter) will be coming up from Cornwall to provide a steady dance beat on her double bass. It will be a wonderful evening.

Here’s a video introducing the band. You might need to click on it to get it started!

🍷 Licensed Bar and interval nibbles

Minehead Rugby Club will have their licensed bar open at the end of the hall throughout the evening so drinks will be available to buy to help you get into the Christmas spirit.

Barnbuskers will be providing some free mince pies in the interval along with a few other free nibbles to give you energy for the second half of the evening’s dancing. There’ll be plenty of seating for those who want to watch the dancing or have a rest.
